I am hoping someone can advise me of a good site for free forum hosting? I tried freewebs forums, but they are available to any freewebs user and we don't want that. I tried eamped, but it doesn't allow the backing up of the forum, and we also noticed there was a guest (not registered user) who somehow had access to every area of the forum, including private messsages! So I have issues with the security there. I'd be extremely grateful if anyone can recommend a good site for me! Free Forum Hosting - Backups when Expanding? I have ran websites in the past and had some success but due to personal circumstances i had to give them all up but i know all about how hard it is to get forums started and busy and the cost involved. I want to trial run a site idea i have - a forum - without incurring cost yet. I used to use sites such as forumup etc to start my sites but found out that you could not get your backup when you wanted to move onto your own hosting. is there any free forum sites - any software which will allow you to take your backup and host it yourself - of course i know there is a charge though which i am happy to pay should the idea kick off.

Can you apply Forum software to Microsoft Office Live Small Business website builder? Curious. It's an awesome setup for a basic website, but my site is solely a forum site for discussion. 2 Part Forum Hosting Question...? Part 1-Why Did Jconserv shut down??? Jconserv has dissappeared offline, wether or not this is permanent I don't know, because there was talk of upgrading to phpbb3 and a lot of free accounts have been unaccessable, my own included, I used to have a site hosted there, (http://bornagainwiccan.jconserve.net ) and I have not been able to access it since 2007-09-11 which is when i started my new forum which is here ( http://bornagainwiccan.forumotion.com/ ) and it really sucks because all of my documents and files are gone that I had on jconserv, I can't upload anything to this new forum except photos. Part 2-Does Anyone know of a free Forum host that allows the upload of almost any file/document, ( including rtf/zip/rar/pdf/ images) etc? And if so, how much space is alloted per forum? Have eAmped forums closed down? eAmped, the free forum hosting website has been down for two days and Admins have received no communication explaining the reasons why it has gone down. What do free web hosts gain from offering free web hosting?? I've been to free web hosting sites like Awardspace, Free Hostia, Jaywebdesigns and Bytehost. I was just wondering what sites like these gain from offering free webhosting? You can look up their features in http://www.free-webhosts.com . That's where I usually look for free hosting. I can't help but wonder why they offer their free hosting at all. I have a few answeres in my mind too like: * them offering to attract more customers to their paid hosting (free hostia and awardspace) * getting more traffic to their site (jaywebdesigns and bytehost) But tendency is, I don't really mind any of the following reasons above.
